Types of Photovoltaic (PV) Cells
Types of PV Cells:
Despite the same function that all species share, which is to generate electrical energy from light, they consist of three types. (the types dominated by the global market)
Silicon is mainly involved in the formation of these cells, but it differs in terms of structure.
1- Monocrystalline Silicone Cell
This type of cell consists of pure silicon and is considered one of the most efficient cells because of its purity, but its manufacturing cost is high.
2- Polycrystalline Silicone Cell
They are cells made of several granules of crystalline crystals, which are less efficient than their monocrystalline predecessors and have lower production costs.
3- Thin Film
It consists of amorphous silicon, and although these cells are considered less efficient than their predecessors, their production is large due to the characteristics they have, the most important of which are flexibility, colors and low cost.
Its flexible feature helps in using it in solar tiles because of its easy bending. It can also be placed on the windows of buildings covered with external glass in the desired color.
